The first time the locals shot arrows at the kayak he used to get from the fishing boat he hired to the shore. That dissuaded him for a day. Then he came back with a large fish as a gift. The locals accepted the fish and told him to leave. He whipped out his Bible and they shot up the Bible (as one of his missionary relatives described it to the BBC “The Bible saved his life!”). Still not taking the hint he returned the next day and, having had enough of his bullshit, they filled him with arrows.
What part of NO SOLICITORS did he not understand?
Also, they have no immunity to outside diseases. His presence could have literally wiped out the population of the entire island.
i think theres something you lose when you develop practical skill at art where you just cannot draw like really good bad drawings. like its forced, your learned grasp on anatomy and line doesnt go away. youre too caught in it, it controls ever line you make, you cant fully force yourself to discard it. even trying your hardest you cant accomplish that earlier state, you can only badly mimic it
and like im not saying “ungnghfhjjhhdh im so good i cant even draw badly if i wanted to!!” because that is like the opposite of what i mean, i mean like no matter how much i do, how much i grow and accomplish, nothing i will EVER make will even begin to compare to the raw feeling captured in this image
so what you’re saying is that naïve art is good art because it captures an honest feeling rather than being too caught up in technical aspects, and artists should just SLAP that brush to the paper fuck the anatomy let’s just get it done
