-When I told the army doctor that sometimes my period pains make me unable to function for days, he didn’t even write that down. -When I told my dad “don’t touch me, I’m in pain” he backed down for a moment until my mom told him “she’s on her period”. Then he just laughed. -When I told my teacher before a big test that I was unable to do it because I was in extreme pain and could barely move at all, she said I was making up excuses and that it wasn’t a real reason not to do the test. -Wenever I tell someone about how different I feel during my period emotionally they say I’m just “making up drama”.
We need to start treating people on their periods like actual human beings in pain.
-The fact that it occurs monthly doesn’t make the pain less real. It should be treated seriously and with respect. -The fact that the hormones effect the emotions doesn’t make your sadness less painful or the anger less valid or that terrible feeling of being lost less terrifying. Guess what? Hormones affect everyone. Feelings aren’t always rational. It should be also treated seriously and with respect.
Please stop mocking people with periods. Please stop dismissing us. Please stop violating our boundries. Please respect people with periods.
Bob’s jealousy of Helen does not make him a bad husband. He would be a bad husband if he let that jealousy control how he treated her and lead him to refuse to support her or take care of his family. He did none of those things. He felt the negative emotion, got over it, and did the right thing anyway. That is character: not the absence of negative emotions, but the ability to deal with them appropriately. Y’all need to quit acting like humans are one dimensional robots incapable of feeling multiple things at once.
Japan’s complete lack of understanding of declining birth rates in relation to its work culture reminds me a lot of how America has an assumption that millennials are killing industries when the truth is they are more frugal because of a lack of funds.
Both come from a conservative mindset that neglects the impact that a toxic work culture can have on society.
A 80+ hour work week in order to maintain financial stability isn’t exactly a solid ground to date people and eventually build a family from a healthy relationship.
A workforce comprised of 20 somethings that make between 20-40k a year in entry positions isn’t a good ground to build a reliable consumer base when a huge chunk of that is going to rent, utilities, car payments, and student loans.
This is a fascinating connection, you should write a paper on this
I am convinced that, in general, people want to have families. Many, if not most, would be happy to raise children. But in order to have children and raise them, especially to do so well, people need happy, stable relationships, financial security and time to devote to – you know – actually raising the child. You need both money and time to do that.
If people are not given the time and means to be able to create social connections and strong relationships, to devote to parenthood and family, then they are not going to do it. How can they?
If anything Millennials are out there trying to prove that we’re better potential parents than our parents were, because we’re practicing safe sex, using contraception and abortion to make sure we’re not bringing a child into a life that’s a financial mess where we’re working too many hours to even raise the kid. Prior generations complain that we were raised by TV and video games, and that may be true, but the thing is, we know that the reason we had to be raised by TV and video games is that their workaholic butts were never home to do it themselves, and we’re not going to do that to the next kids. And that may mean not having kids until conditions are right.
so in 2007, there was a law passed that said if you have student loans
and you worked in public services & made student loan payments on time
for 10 years, you’d get loan forgiveness. fast forward to 2017, and guess what happens under this admin with Betsy Devos?
out of 30,000 public service applicants, the Devos/Trump team only forgave the loans of 96 people. imagine 10 years ago deciding to work in public service with shitty pay to pay off loans the govt promised they would and then 99% of applications get rejected. thats absolutely despicable. wtf.
couldn’t post the links since this website is hell and won’t let it show up in searches anymore, but here’s the links. apparently there IS a class-action lawsuit going, and here’s a link to a petition being done by the same union who filed the lawsuit (it’s at the bottom). not sure how much it’s helpful but it’s worth a shot i guess
women who perform sexual acts on underage boys deserve to be thrown under the prison never to see the light of day again right next to the men who perform sexual acts on underage girls
and if you disagree you don’t deserve to be around kids. i wouldn’t trust you with my toenail much less a child
